The Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement (BIDANI) is the extension flagship program of the College of Human Ecology. It is a comprehensive nutrition-in-development program prioritizing the improvement of the nutritional status of Filipinos to achieve rural development. It was originally called the Nutrition Improvement Model (NIM) founded in 1978 and evolved as BIDANI in 1984.

In its 45th Anniversary, the network of eight SUCs, namely: University of the Philippines Los Baños, Batangas State University, Bicol University, Central Luzon State University, Central Mindanao University, Isabela State University, University of the Philippines Visayas, and Visayas State University held a convention to celebrate the achievements of the Program.

This special issue aims to share and showcase the selected papers presented during the BIDANI’s 45th anniversary convention as well as other action research and extension activities of the network, including outputs related to barangay management information systems, community empowerment, community development, strategies and experiences, nutrition interventions among others.
