TAP-HSP: A Holistic Approach in Participatory Planning for Sustainable Development towards Community Empowerment and Resilience Building

The Technical Assistance Program on Human Settlement Planning (TAP-HSP) is the banner public service arm of UPLB College of Human Ecology to deliver planning assistance to various organizations to help them achieve human ecological security. It provides different services to the planning needs of communities, institutions, and organizations at the national, regional, and local levels.

This Special Issue is a collection of original research articles and short communications that serves as a platform for sharing innovative approaches, successful strategies, lessons learned, and best practices from the TAP-HSP. It showcases a variety of distinctive features and characteristics of the local development processes, providing an in-depth understanding of the conditions, opportunities, and challenges, fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement in local governance and sustainable development.

The Special Issue’s main theme is participatory planning on sustainable development to empower communities and build resiliency. Topics may include but are not limited to, planning processes, tools and techniques, planning and implementation gaps, and contemporary planning issues such as climate and disaster risks, urban-rural governance, planetary health, and digitalization and knowledge management among others on the local development planning experiences.
